My day to day role at work includes shadowing associates for an insight into what their role is and how they contribute to the overall business. I also complete small tasks for associates to get a feel for the sort of work they do on a day to day basis.
I have learnt so much in the short amount of time I've spent on this apprenticeship. Continuous improvement is one of the main skills and having the ability to apply it to my personal life has been very useful. Also, my confidence has increased dramatically after having to meet new people every day at work.
The early mornings are still painful, however after settling down at my desk with a cup of coffee I can focus on the day ahead. Every day is different and i enjoy the challenges that are given to me. I'd say that I thoroughly enjoy the apprenticeship I'm doing.
The workplace is extremely organised, the associates I work with are professional and good role-models to be around, however, the external training college we go to is awful. The college has no structure and lecturers don't care to teach us properly. We are having to teach ourselves the subjects in order to complete the assignments and exams.
If I ever need any support I feel comfortable enough that i can speak to any of my managers about the issues I'm experiencing. I have mentors I can speak to if needed but so far the apprenticeship is going well and i havent needed much support from them.
So far, the training provider has not been very supportive in the way they teach us. The lecturers do not provide us with the neccesary work to complete the asignments, and we are having to teach the units to ourselves in order to pass the exams. It is obvious the college is struggling with finding lecturers to teach there.
I believe that the course provides me with some knowledge that I can apply at work, however some of the units I am doing do not apply to the job role I'm in at work. I believe the units I complete later on in the course might help me though.
At work we are constantly being offered oppotunities to do extra-curricular activities with associates such as mountain climb challenges and football clubs, however because the associates that I work with live long distances from each other, it is often hard to collectively get together outside of work. For this reason we only occationally get together to complete these activities.
Yes
Working for BMW is like no other job. The amount of different people who work here is hard to get your head around and the money involved in the projects we do is unbelievable. Working here is such a good oppotunity and the perks that go with it are unbeatable.
Be sure to have a positive and focused mindset and ensure you have good grades in your examinations. BMW are looking for the potencial in you rather than the person you are currently. The apprenticeship is set-up to mould you into the person you need to be in order to work here.
