Currently I don't do any work directly for PwC other than an occasional interview but over the summer I will be working in their London office providing internal tech solutions to help further the business and so I can learn about the inner workings of PwC in their London office
I have learnt some business acumen skills and how to converse with high level people within the PwC architecture. I have learnt some communication and interview skills which will help me during client facing tasks I will have to perform during my summer work placement at PwC and in the year in industry
I enjoy my programme massively. Getting a Uni education while not having to worry about debt or financing is the best way to do it. Most of my friends are on the same course and we're all in London over summer so we are all looking forward to that
It is run by the University of Birmingham and so we mostly just match the course that regular computer science students are on. The difference is that we do not get to choose our extra modules, we instead study prescribed business and finance modules that PwC thinks will benefit us
PwC is always available for us to contact and talk to and we all have buddies within PwC who can help us, but we can mostly get all the help we need from the university so I cannot vouch for the effectiveness of PwC when an issue arises that concerns them
The university provides a great amount of support. This first year is rather simple though, designed to catch everyone up, and since I studied a level computer science I am in the minority that doesn't need as much support and so I cannot vouch for their effectiveness when help is nseded
The qualifications will give us the technical skills and wherewithal to perform the tasks we need to to do our jobs at PwC and so the training and qualifications are suited well for helping us perform better in our role at PwC. This summer placement will put that to the test
There are, but we have not had much exposure to them. We attempted to create a new social activity but there was no reply from PwC. I expect that we will be more involved in this kind of thing once we start working at PwC full time and have more connections
Yes
They are a company that cares about their employees and wants to see them progress. They are one of the best graduate employers for a reason, and do great at opening channels for support and communication even if you don't find yourself needing to get in contact with them
PwC cares about finding someone who fits in the company more than someone with a large assortment of qualifications. Do your best to show how you match the PwC professional and give real life examples of how you match it. They are looking for the right type of person above all else
