  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as a Product Development Specialist is to be the conduit between our operations and tech teams in the rollout and management of both physical and technological products and tools. Each product is managed as an individual project, but has overlap with a variety of others within our business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In my role, I have gained a variety of new skills and been able to utilise some of the PMQ courses lessons. These have helped me effectively plan and structure my projects to effectively communicate plans as well as reduce unnecessary work and revisions on plans. Mostly this has been a reaffirmation of my understanding and helped to enhance this.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have been on the course for almost 9 months and even though we got off to a slightly rocky start with some teething problems, the course has been enjoyable and interesting. The lessons have been well presented, and I feel that our instructor has enough time for us individually and will tailor responses to our questions.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The PMQ programme has been fairly well structured once we got past the initial uncertainty. The schedule for classes has been clear in advance, as well as ensuring that the preliminary work and information that is provided to us ahead of time so that we can read prior to attending the classroom sessions.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My previous boss manager and current line manager have both seen the value in myself and my colleague completing this course as there is merit in having a qualification and understanding of Project Management in my roles. They have ensured that I am able to take on new projects to assist with the 20% requirement as well as having the opportunity to utilise the lessons learned.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider as a whole have been very supportive in ensuring that we have the tools and understanding the requirements of the course commitment. Our Instructor has also been very supportive in ensuring that he can answer questions or will look at getting answers to any questions we have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that the lessons in this course have been of benefit to this and my prior role, mostly to reaffirm that I am doing the majority of the things that I do correctly. The training provider also helps to fine tune my understanding to help find efficiencies in how I structure or prepare for certain projects based on the audience and stakeholders.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My company is very big on having representation of all manners, from LGBT to BAME, Working Parents to Study Aid. There is also a variety of committee’s and groups for physical and mental wellbeing, this includes 3x weekly PT sessions, running groups, time to talk, among others. There are also monthly charity days that support our local communities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Enterprise Mobility to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • A core value of Enterprise Rent-A-Car is that it “is a fun and friendly place to work, where teamwork rules”. The statement rings true, as do some of the other core values that emphasis that the people and their individual lives are important to the companies success and make them feel valued.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Enterprise Mobility?
  • I would say that anyone wanting to join Enterprise would need to speak to employees and research the company to understand it’s ethos and people and make sure it’s the right fit for them. It is a great company that will look after you, it’s just got to be what you’re looking for as it will challenge you and if you’re up for the challenge then it will reward you.
