I am an Apprentice Software Developer. My day to day tasks would be split into sections. Half of the day is 'lecture' style training in a learning environment and working towards my qualifications, such a report writing, etc.... Where as the other half of the day would be to work on improving my programming knowledge.
When I joined the company, I was fairly new to programming. I have now developed a high level of knowledge across a number of programming languages. Bright Future is a friendly environment and I believe i have developed my personal skills such as communication.
I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bright Future so far, and look forward to progressing within the company.
There seems to be a divide between the higher members of staff and the apprentices. Although most of the staff and trainers are nice, at times it feels like we aren't treated as actual employees.
To begin with, the structure and organisation of the qualification was fairly poor. The training was inadequate and not much support was offered. However, as the company has progressed, new specialist trainers and staff have been brought in which has shown a huge improvement.
As mentioned, the training has gradually been getting better with time. The staff meet every apprentices needs and support is given if and when needed. I feel I've had enough support throughout my time at the company.
The management and HR team is supportive and easily approachable. They have provided a lot of guidance for me when I have needed it.
In my first year, I received around £500 a month which is actually higher than minimum for apprentices. The wage met my needs and was sufficient enough to manage.
There have meet a lot of company events whilst I've been here and the staff are always wanting to get the apprentices involved. I have been to many open days and conferences to represent the company.
Yes
It is a great opportunity to gain a good qualification whilst also earning. The opportunities they offer in the future are also very appealing.
Not be worried about your interview. The recruitment team are great and make everybody feel comfortable. Be confident, give a lot of detail about your previous experience in this area and highlight any other relevant information about yourself.
