  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • on a daily basis, depending on how busy the phones are, I will take 30-50 calls, all being round different areas of banking. Some calls with be transferring money to different account, talking through ISA's and looking into fraud. Where as other times I will need to look into a matter further, I would do this by calling other departments and seeing if I can get a resolution.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to develop some existing skills that I have. I have also been able to grow my confidence in different areas, which has lead me to be able to use my time at work more efficiently. I have been able to update my IT skills and have learnt a full new system to work on.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the program a lot. At times there can be a level of miscommunication between what should be happening and what is actually happening. However over time I have just accepted this. As a group this has been raised numerous times, however due to the miscommunication it is not always passed to the correct people. But in relation to the program, I do enjoy it and enjoy the people I am working with.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • as answered in my previous question. I believe at times the structure is not there, there is a lack of communication and this can make things within the business very tense and disorganized. However my TL does his very best to make sure things are as smooth as possible, however I believe the issues lye higher then him.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • from my TL I receive a large level of support, my TL does everything possible to support me. But as I have said, I do also believe support with the apprenticeship is reliant on green time and if you are in a favourable team. The support is good when we do receive it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive very little from my confirmed apprentice coach, as she has not been attending the sessions of my group. however I have been speaking with another coach and she is amazing and will give all of the support in the word as long as you ask for it. As I have said, my official coach can be very disorganised and had t contact, but my un-official coach is amazing an she will be a miss when she leaves

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • if anything I think at times it can make me perform worse. I think the stress and pressure and all of the miscommunication can add up and leave me feeling in a worse place. However after these issues have been addressed and as the program becomes more structures, I believe things will become better. parts of my apprenticeship have aided me on the phones, like learning about the FSCS and FCA and also the FOS have all helped me within the job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • no. there is no external actives to get involved in. If there is any, we have not been made aware of them. I would like some external actives, or even events to attend but these have not been offered to my team and as I have said, no actives that we have been made aware of.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • All in all, I have spoken about the negatives, but there is also a lot of positives. I would highly recommend Barclays to a friend or family member as it is a good place to go and as long as you are willing to work, there is a lot of different places to move to if needed.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • make sure you know what you are starting. the program at times can be disorganised and can be complicated and frustrating, but as long as you are flexible, adaptable and can deal with a lot of change, it is a good place to work. Pay attention as much as possible to make sure you get the best from everything
