I am resppnsibile for managing and facilitating an aggregate demand view of change initiatives into the bank. I produce complex roadmaps to show the landscape of change laning into both virtual and physical colleague and customer spaces. I deal with senior lead stakeholders and facilitate challenging debates to ensure change lands in the right way, with the right people and for the right reasons.
I have used many of the modules in not just my life but in may home life too. The modules which were based around strengths and weaknesses have proved very useful in creating and updating my CV and also helping me whilst I am goin through a challenging redundancy period.
I was only able to finish the first 2 modules of the course due to a tream restructure and me opting for voluntary redundancy. However I feel the content has been extremely insightful and I enjoyed the way the modules were delivered as well as how the tutors interact and engage with the audience.
From the offset the programme has been structured and organised incredibly well. The only challenge I had was that I was asked to join the course quite late in the day so was not given much time to prepare myself. I dont think this was down to the university however as I believe it was an internal Barclays challenge.
I was given every support I required. My line manager was extrememly supportive and I was able to block out specific time for studying. I was able to take a full day every 2 weeks as well as being given the support to cover my day to day responsibilties when I was expected to go and study for full week blocks.
In the short time which I was studying I was given fantastic support from both my personal tutor aswell as course leaders and module leaders. The admin lady was also absolutely amazing and anything I had issues with was resolved speedily and professionally. I cannot fault the support provided at all.
I was only able to complete 2 modules but even the content from those forst 2 modules has proived useful when completing personal development sessions aswell as team meetings which I have lead in my line managers absence. I have also been able to articulate my personal prifle with a lot more awareness in my strengths and weaknesses
There are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved with at work. There is a sports and social membership which gives you options to go on trips etc. There is also a gym on site which I have been a member of for years, however with me leaving the bank soon I have cancelled my membership.
Yes
Although the initial front door/front line roles can be menotenous - there are lots of opportunities to progress and learn & develop in the bank. I have griwn so much as a person and have learned a lot about myself in terms of strengths, weakness, what my passions are and what I want to do with my life. I would never have had that if I hadnt worked for Barclays.
be prepared to experience a couple of challenging but rewarding years when you first start your career at Barclays. Ensure you take every opportunity to develop yourself in this company as it can truly help to shape your career path and help you grow confidence as an individual. Aspire to be better every day.
