On a day to day basis, we are usually on the phone completing our job role which is moment banking over the phone. We deal with many different types of customers and deal with many different queries ranging from fraud on accounts to balances. One day per week we spend completing apprenticeship work.
I have developed my skills in communication and conversation skills, before working at Barclays these skills were not one of my strong points and I was very nervous when speaking to people, be that colleagues on the floor or customers over the phone. However after working here for a year now I feel that these skills have developed quite a lot and I now feel a lot more confident in speaking with people.
I have enjoyed the job, speaking to customers and also learning the RBCB and completing the portfolio. It has been affected by the fact that the programme is very unorganised and for a very long time we did not know who our talent coach was and also were left for a period of time without any support from knowledgepool or Barclays.
The programme is very unorganised and for a very long time we did not know who our talent coach was and also were left for a period of time without any support from knowledgepool or Barclays. This meant that our exam was pushed back and therefore the completion of the apprenticeship pushed back as well,
From Barclays I don't think that we receive as much support as we should do. This is due to the fact that we are not allowed consistent time for our apprenticeship eg. half days here and there instead of a full day dedicated to our apprenticeship.
In regards to our training provider we do receive quite a lot of support. There are times that we are not able to see our training provider for a little while due to the way that our apprenticeship time falls however when we do see our talent coach she is always helpful and interested in helping us
I believe that having the background knowledge of the RBCB qualification means that I am a lot more knowledgeable in my job role, it helps me when speaking with customers and helps me to understand processes more as I know the regulations and requirements that banks have to follow.
At the moment I am not aware of any extra curricular activities however there is a sports and social club which offers discounts for different attractions in the area and also theatre performances and concerts in our local area. I haven't joined this myself as I wouldn't really benefit from it but I have heard from colleagues that it is something that they benefit from.
Yes
Barclays is a good place to work, it is quite good being on the phone and speaking with customers and helping to make their banking easier. The apprenticeship is good and the RBCB is very beneficial towards my job roe and also helps with my general knowledge of banking.
I would advise that you are prepared for the organisation issues that have occurred since I started however I do believe that this was caused by issues with Barclays changing training providers from Barclays in house to knowledgepool and also the fact that we were the first team to start with the Barclays in house apprenticeship
