I provide clients assistance with their online banking platforms. Whether this be setting new users up on the system, advising them how to make a payment in an exotic currency or recalling funds that have gone missing. It is mainly a telephony based role with email cases also being done between calls.
I have learnt several new skills. Before this role I had never been in a telephony role. This has tested my ability to remain calm in stressful situations, for example when I have a client on the line who is unhappy with something. I have also developed my understanding of the financial world.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme. It provides constant growth and there are always numerous opportunities to try new things and broaden my knowledge. It isn't just a job, Barclays offer you the chance to take part in several charity work and volunteering which can be done with in work time making it so much more rewarding.
The programme has not been around for too long and there are still improvements that can be made in the way that it is organised and structured. We now have a main point of contact in regards to any apprenticeship queries making it much easier to raise any concerns we may have.
My Team Leader provides lots of support, whether I need an extra couple of hours to study or I need to attend a call for university, they always put the study first. They provide support within the working role and ensure the balance between work and study is correct at all times.
We receive lots of support from uni. We have monthly calls with our personal tutors to whom we can raise any academic concerns. We also have regular webinars in which we are assisted in any topics we are unsure on. This is extremely helpful when the exam season is approaching
The topics within the degree are targeted to relate to the everyday role that we perform. This allows us to expand our knowledge of the role and also apply this knowledge which will boost our performance. Being taught by industry experts also means that we are getting the correct information needed.
There are several activities. From organising charity events, volunteering at any local charities and so much more. Barclays make coming to work fun so it never feels like a job. The extra activities allow you to give back to the community without having to use up time outside of the working day.
