Role requires me to complete support services for client facing staff, this can be anything from processing compliance and risk to helping create presentations or booking travel and hotels. Every day is different and have been given the opportunity to work on a vast range of projects in a number of capacities
You get taught how to proficiently use all there systems and learn some handy tricks with word and excel. Most importantly you develop your networking skills and realise that it is a key factor for success with work loads coming through connections you have. You also get taught project management skills as most apprentices will end up helping and running projects of their own.
Although I'm not the biggest fan of the course itself the programme at KPMG has been brilliant allowing me to work with a number of different departments and really giving me the chance to prove my worth. The qualification element has improved through out my time here as well with steps taken to more tailor the requirements to our particular job roles.
The programme is organised really well in the work place with an array of contact points for apprentices if they need help, for the offices outside of London the only issue can be having to attend apprentice sessions in London but these are infrequent and the journey isn't too bad!
Everyone at KPMG is really helpful, all managers and colleagues are happy to help where they can and support you through your studies and work projects. The company as a whole will also support you in a number of ways including mental well being. The are very supportive as well in terms of ensuring you manage your time and are not over worked.
BPP will assign you an advisor and training lead, from my experience they are always willing to help! They are more than helpful in terms of preparing for assignments although some of the face to face sessions have seemed a little pointless. but overall all questions get answered and any issues get resolved and they work really well to take on board any issues people have.
The qualification does push you to try and take on more and put yourself out of your comfort zone when it comes to you role. The assignments are designed to make you try and take on more responsibility but there have been a couple of minor issues with some criteria not being well suited to the role you are in, they do help you work round these issues though.
Loads! There are so many communities and events put on making it a really fun place to work, especially around Christmas with all the Christmas do's on (you end up having to decline more invites than you accept) but all through out the year there are events on most weeks. They have a big push on Corporate Responsibility work as well and allocate you time each year to spend volunteering if you desire to do so.
Yes
it's an inclusive workplace with so many opportunities both professionally and socially. Everybody is friendly and the small perks such as lunch allowances and CR time make you feel valued. There is also obvious progression through the company and all in all its a really fun place to work.
Do your research! KPMG really embraces the brand values that will be available to view online so make sure you have examples of fitting them. It's a competitive process but be yourself and don't lose hope if you don't hear anything for a couple of weeks as parts of the process can take time!
