My job is to offer services to businesses such as if they have any queries regarding processes within my team I will call them or they will call me in order to resolve this. These include setting up open credits or talking to dissolved businesses on how to get their money back
I have developed several skills whilst working for Barclays. By being on the phones it has helped to increase my confidence as I am now comfortable talking to customers for a variety of reasons. It has helped me look at business banking in a different way and has benefited myself
I enjoy most parts of my programme but there have been parts that haven't been done so well. We only get 3 hours a week to work on our apprenticeship which in my opinion isn't enough and visits from Talent Coaches are few and far between so we have struggled for guidance
It hasn't been organised very well at all. I started in September but didn't even get signed on my to apprenticeship until January. This has slowed down the programme so we have been working full time for a much less wage without even working on our apprenticeship for several months
We do receive support from Barclays. They will always ask how it is going and to make sure we are up to date on any apprentice work we need to complete. They make time for us to do our work which is good but 3 hours a week isn't really enough
We do receive support from our training provider. They always offer the chance to meet and any queries we have they encourage us to ask any questions or worries we may have they will help us. They just have other places to go so aren't on site as much.
I feel the qualification does relate to the job role we complete but it is very book based. Within the book it does offer general oversights and how this can relate to our job role but I wouldn't say there is a direct link to the role I perform
There are several extra-curricular activities that anyone is able to get involved in within Barclays. There is always the opportunity to take part in citizenship where we can offer to help at local schools or when schools come into work we are always able to help out if we would like to.
Yes
I would recommend it to a friend but I would make them aware of some issues. It is a nice place to work and very friendly but the apprenticeship has been ran so poorly in my experience. It does look like it is getting better with a new talent coach but we do the same job as permanent staff except the 3 hours a week off and get paid a lot less
I would make sure what you are applying for is what you want to do. In my experience we are on the phones quite a lot so I would just make sure you are comfortable with everything that you will have to do and regarding the apprenticeship, you just have to keep pushing to get it done as quickly as possible
