  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role on the Bacs referrals/Bacs helpdesk team is to monitor inbound emails in to the helpdesk' inbox and provide excellent customer service to maintain the reputation Barclays holds. I also deal with customers who submit duplicate files and also customers on precautionary limits as we require confirmation they have the funds to make the requested payment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed numerous amount of skills with the teams I have been on current and past. These skills include customer service skills for example, when talking to clients and they are unhappy with a process we have I am able to empathise with the client and help them understand why the process is in place.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed the current programme with Barclays. Compare to my previous job roles, coming to Barclays has been a massive learning curve as it completely differ to my previous roles. Everybody is helpful therefore if I ever felt stuck I know I am surrounded by colleagues who are happy to assist.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organisation started off a little unsettling as the company who were assisting us with our apprenticeship (knowledgepool) were very unorganised in regards to our talent coach as we didn't have one until month three. The site we use to log our work is Tessello which has also raised concerns with it's set up completely changing meaning we had to re do previous modules.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I couldn't ask for more support from my employer. We have monthly meeting to catch up as a group and to make sure everyone is on track and not struggling with any day to day activities. We also get time allocated to complete work to achieve our qualification in the apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In the beginning it was tough as we didn't have a point of contact for the work we had been set to do with us not having a talent coach. Once our talent coach was put in place, things started to run more smoothly which meant deadlines were made on time as we had a point of contact for any help or queries we had.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel the qualification through my training provider does help me in role as we have learnt plenty of modules which link to my day to day routines for example, email etiquette therefore I am now able to professionally put together an email for a client who may be of aid.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are a number of extra-curricular activities to get involved in at my work these include, charity events, sports and football tournaments, charity bike rides, volunteer work which I have recently carried out in painting a local cricket club. I feel this is a good thing Barclays offer as it is great to put down on your PDP ( personal development plan).

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Barclays to anybody as the help you receive is phenomenal. From the day I first walked in to the door asking where the canteen was to asking a colleague for help about a complex query, the same level of politeness has been held and everybody here are always open to help anybody.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • The advice I would give to someone applying to Barclays is do not feel like you won't receive help and guidance along the way. Everyone's so supportive and will help you no matter how big or small the case may be and if are lucky enough to be offered an interview take it with both hands as it is a great place to work and succeed.
