  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Running the packing lines with the current operators, learning how each part of the machine work, fixing any problems with the line, carrying out regular improvements to the live. Also working 1 day with the engineers to understand the mechanics of how each machine works, this helps with fixing problems in the future when running the lines.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I have developed skill in engineering that I never had before, I now understand how different types of machinery work within the industry and am confident in working with identifying problems before they happen. I have found college to help me with more academic challenges and feel I am improving everyday.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured I currently go to college 2days a week (Monday, Tuesday). The other 3 days I am working on site running the line on the packing floor. Or I will work with the engineers carrying out maintenance. Weekend off which is a nice bonus unless I choose to work over time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Training at college I receive plenty of support each week can be a different topic but the teacher make sure that you are understanding what has be taught for the day. If there is anything you don't understand again all you have to do is ask and the teacher will help you.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • To my knowledge at the moment I do not know I am a member of the work gym at the moment which I supposes could count. Its easy to just pop into the gym before or after your shift for a good workout, helps me stay focused and ready for the day.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Unilever for a friend because it is a great business to work for, everything is given to you on a plate you just have to work hard for the goals you seek but any support needed is always there. Also Unilever is a very well established company so job security is a peace of mind

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Be yourself, even if you don't know a question in the interviews just be honest and explain how you feel you can be a great asset to the business. All the training can be taught but Unilever I feel are looking for confidence, people who they can grow and mould into something great.
