My role changes every 6 months and so my day-to-day jobs can vary a lot between each role and per day. A theme across both roles so far is that my role involves a lot of programme management and organising other people and events. I attend lots of meetings with senior people so I get to see what is going on in the rest of the firm.
I am completing a junior management consultant qualification which has built on my economic knowledge from school as well as being introduced to accounting. I have learnt a variety of things from design thinking, leadership skills to risk management. I have learnt how to manage my time effectively, how to network and communicate effectively with a range of people and to use a range of softwares.
The people at PwC are one of the best aspects of the programme. There are so many like-minded people with so many interests that help you to find new things you're interested too. It's so easy to build lasting relationships with people which also makes work a lot more fun.
I have a lot of support through my programme, I have a career coach who is someone within the business who will help with my development and support me if needs be. I also have a buddy in year above on the same programme, so any issues they are best placed to offer advice.
PwC is very good at making you feel supported and provide you with lots of opportunities to help with your development. Everyone has a mentor that they are able to go to. There is a lot of information on our shared platform that informs you of people you can speak to so it's easy to find where you need to go for guidance.
The training provider tutor is very good at replying to any questions that we have and provide good lessons which help to explain the content in a short period of time. They also provide you with a Talent Coach which isn't really needed as they do not know the industry you are working in very well and there is limited contact with them.
I definitely think that I would be able to complete the role to the same standard without the qualification as it isn't linked directly to the work that I do in my roles however it is handy to have the extra knowledge. It's also nice to continue learning so it doesn't feel as if you've left education completely.
There is SO much to get involved with. You could find something to do every night of the week if you wanted to. There are lots of PwC sport teams to join and lots of events showcasing the different teams throughout the company and the different work that we do.
Yes
The company tries really hard to meet the needs of its employees making it an enjoyable place to work. The people make coming to work fun and there's so many people to meet and learn from. Also, the opportunities are pretty much endless as it is such a big company there's so many things for you to try and find what you like doing.
Make sure you look at PwCs values and apply them to your answers in your interviews and assessment centres. It shows that you have put in some effort and looked up what matters to the company. Be yourself, a big part of what PwC is about is having people who have different views on things and are able to speak to people.
