  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I deal with motor claims. I handle repairs and write offs, deal with liability and liaise with a number of external suppliers. I update customers on the progress of the claim whether that be with repair updates, making payments or keeping them updated with liability. I also deal with fatal accidents so i provide a very personal service.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been working in the customer service sector for the last 22 years so i already have a very high level of knowledge and experience. The training so far has not really covered anything i was not already aware of or putting into practice however it has helped confirm what i am doing is the right way of dealing with daily tasks

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the program quite a bit as it is very relevant to my day to day job role. I have found it beneficial to what i do on a daily basis as it has helped to consolidate the knowledge i already have in place from working in the customer service sector.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the program so far seem to be well organised so far. I am only on my 2nd module but so far so good. I have found the learning easy to follow and the tasks have been easy to understand what is expected of me when completing them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My direct manager has been very supportive in allowing me dedicated time to complete my work and focus on my learning. I don't feel he was given enough information before the course stared by the organiser within the business of what was expected of him and myself. I have been allowed to move around other departments to gain further knowledge of processes within the company that have an impact on customer service.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive all the support i need from my tutor. He has made it clear i am welcome t contact him with any queries and is very open to talking on monthly visits. The first time i met him it was a bit overwhelming with all the information i had to take in but any outstanding questions i had that i not been able to find answers for myself i had he was more than happy to clarify when we met.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As i have so much experience in the feel so far i have not covered off anything i was not already doing but learning about a couple of theory's is something that i was not aware of despite the fact i already followed the ideas and principles behind them.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are some social activities but these are mainly at the Folkestone office so we do not get a chance to participate in these. There are voluntary initiatives that you can put yourself forward to join in. These vary between beach cleans, visits to residential homes or currently there is one working with UK boarder force down in Dover/Folkestone.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Saga plc to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have worked at Saga for over 6 years now and although i started here as a job stop gap i have been happy most of the time. The benefits of working here are fantastic for me such as the private medical and pension. I am a working parent with 2 children and the flexibility here is amazing. If i have a school event to attend i am able to move my shift around so i don't miss anything to do with my kids.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Saga plc?
  • Learn about the company and the job role you want to apply for. Ask around as there are so many people that are current or previous employees that can give a real insight into the role. Pick the area that interests you the most but remember there is so much progression and movement once you are in the company if you want to change roles there is so many opportunities to do so.
