I currently work in GMS. This involves helping individuals when they travel abroad for work with the tax implications of their move. My day to day role involves internal/client calls, responding to emails, completing client work. The work I complete for client is always varied but is always interesting!
I feel that my communication skills have improved since I have joined since I now attend meetings and send emails. I also feel my prioritisation and time management has improved to ensure all urgent tasks get completed before the deadline. Finally, my organisation skills have improved since I have to keep aware of all work I have to do and plan my day effectively.
I found the programme extremely beneficial and I have no regrets about joining KPMG. Everyone is extremely supportive and do not believe there is a limit of work what you can produce since you are an apprentice. I feel very involved within my team and receive support surrounding my qualifications and studying.
The programme is very structured to ensure you do not have exams too close to each other and you have time when you are not studying and working. We also have quarterly forums where my apprentice intake catch up. Our training for exams is very organised and is well structured
I receive a lot of support whether that is for exams or through my day to day work. We have catch ups with our performance managers to understand our progress and to express any issues/concerns. For my exams I receive a sufficient amount of study leave and feel well supported.
We initially have tuition which is either in person or online and receive course materials and a question bank. We usually sit our exams 3 weeks after having tuition. We will receive study leave through work to revise and have an email address to contact if we have any questions.
Through the apprenticeship you study towards AAT which is a step towards chartered. This provides a broad knowledge of all service lines KPMG provides. My qualification has helped solidify my knowledge of different areas in the business and has helped me day to day by understanding calculations and legislation applicable to my role.
There are various sports socials that occur which are usually seasonal. In terms of social activities these are usually organised by teams and can consist of team building or evening drinks. There is also the charity committee which is within each office and opportunities to volunteer in the local community.
Yes
I would recommended KPMG due to the culture within the firm and how welcoming and friendly the staff are. There are also so many opportunities within KPMG that are available which can be anything from within the office to global opportunities. You are always supported and there are no limits in what you can achieve.
I would advise to research the values, history and general background and this information can show you have an interest in the company when applying. Also plan answers to interview questions and have scenarios that you feel can be applied to interview questions. Finally don't be nervous as the interview process was not daunting!
