You are trained as an engineer for the first year full time at college. The next 2-3 years will be spent on site with 1 day a week training at college. These years will be specific to your job role, with relevant placements throughout the plant. Further opportunities may come, including the chance to obtain a full degree, no charges.
Throughout the first year, you will be trained in a range of subjects including; Bench work Milling machines Lathes/turning Electronics Electrical Maintenance Hydraulics Pneumatics Hydraulics Maintenance Pneumatics Maintenance Soldering PLC Mechanical Maintenance Materials Health and safety as well as a range of BTEC subjects to help with the engineering subjects.
The apprenticeship is mostly enjoyable, but you are expected to work hard. Most of the subjects are enjoyable and will be crucial to work. The BTEC side of the apprenticeship isn't as exciting, but is necessary for the role. If you are interest in engineering or any technical subjects, you will enjoy the apprenticeship.
The program is very structured throughout, however the college is short of staff. You have a full time table covering a 37.5hour a week period. The following years are again very structure, with your placements already decided before you step foot at plant. There is nothing to worry about with structure.
You will receive a lot of support throughout, both from BMW and the College. 3 monthly reviews will be given by your manager and regular visits will be held. Additionally, every 6 months you will have a 1 to 1 meeting with your personal tutor on your progress. however, support will be given all year round by every teacher.

Every subject is necessary to your specific job role. It is massively important that you have the basic understanding of engineering, even if you are going into a non-engineering role. This enables you to have an understanding of the plant and the roles of each employee on site. it helps.
id you want to do extra sporting activities, you can easily do them with your work mates. this is however no provided by the employer but this is not part of the job. this is irrelevant for any job role and should not be included in a review. thanks thanks.
Yes
