So far I have learnt several new skills from Lathe and Milling work, to Electronic Measure and Testing to material properties. While I have learnt many new skills, I have also been able to further my existing skills in Fault Finding, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) and Device and Circuits.
Yes I am really enjoying the programme, I have had many more opportunities thanks to the people I work with, also since I'm revisiting the collage I already went to, I already know most of the lecturers we have teaching the areas for us along with new lectures too.
It isn't the best in organisation, there are staff that are off for unknown reasons and a cover not being provided for us leading to us having the study in the LRC (Learning Recreational centre). Also having a printing allowance restricts how often you can present any work or print out.
From my employer I get support if I ask for it. He occasionally comes in for updates on the plant and whats happening, however he could make a few more regular check ups on us as he isn't as responsive though emails. He has helped us for settling in, but could be a little better with organisation.
We receive a lot of support when we ask for it, in many cases too much more than what was asked for. If unsure on anything they will be as supportive as possible and help guide through any issues as they can't give the direct answer. They make sure that everyone is up to date and on track.
I feel like the college could help us out a little more by listening to complaints about lighting in some of the rooms, and by providing the lecturers with more material and printing credits for them to help us as much as they want to rather than them also complaining about things.
I am not too sure about any extra activities at work, although I know that they have a new gym facility that they have opened up which I have considered joining when I start at the plant. At the college there is only a gym that we can go to.
Yes
I think it is an amazing once in a life time opportunity where you can get paid and study, also the car scheme that they offer is an amazing opportunity where you can get to drive a new car. Also from who I have met the other workers that I'd be with are easy to get along with.
Do your best to succeed and also go for the highest grade and target that you can, don't mess around and waste this opportunity as there would be many others who would love to be what you're doing instead of you. If you aren't going to put 110% effort into this then find another Job.
