I am a social media apprentice at M&G prudential and am based in the Edinburgh office. I started in October 2018 and will finish in December 2019. Some of my daily tasks include, updating the content planner, coming up with ideas for content, travelling to London to meet the rest of the team and undertaking projects.
I have significantly enhanced my computing skills as well as the use of social media and the analytics behind this. I have increased my communication skills as well as confidence too. I am also learning to use various tools on the computer that are imperative to the job role in which I’m in.
I enjoy the fact that I’m in the Edinburgh office and within such an interesting part of the company (social media). I like prudentials caring attitude towards employees as well. Everyone is also very friendly and polite and easy to work with. There’s a very relaxed approach that I didn’t expect.
This can be a mixed bag. My training provider, QA can lack communication and are sometimes very hard to get a hold of. Their response times can be very poor too. Within the workplace, the structure is good and there’s always something in place for me to undertake daily.
I receive a good amount of support and they are always there to listen to anything that may be concerning you. My employer would also help with any queries that I may have and if they didn’t know this answer, would seek out someone who did. They will also ensure that I get as much out of this as possible.
QA can be very finicky to work with. When you’re with them in person, they’re great but this can not be the case when dealing with them via email. On the telephone, they are very caring and understanding as well as being helpful with any queries you may have too.
These qualifications are mostly computer based therefore will be incredibly helpful within my job role. For example, my analytics course was helpful as I use this on twitter and google in regards to my daily tasks. The courses provided all tie into what I do within my role which will not only be beneficial now, but in future careers too.
I am not aware of this. As I’m based in Edinburgh, were pretty isolated from the rest of the company. The only type of social activity that would really be on offer to us would be going for lunch/ drinks but this would be dependent upon whether anyone organised this or not.
Yes
I think that depending what you’re looking for, prudential could be a good place to recommend a friend to. You would need to look into your job role thoroughly to see whether or not it would be for you or not. It’s a great company to progress in and all of the training is provided to ensure you can be the best you possibly can be.There are good incentives and bonuses (discounts) as well as free travel.
Be yourself, make sure your cv is of a high standard and have past experiences ready to talk about (examples). Ensure that you dress smart and are confident and ready to interact with others on the assessment centre day. Be polite and respectful as a lot of people apply for this job.
