  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It is really hard work and there are very tough days, but I enjoy the customer interactions and strategy planning. I found the more customers I interact with the better my understanding of how retail will affect their lives and what needs to be done to ensure the best service is provided for them.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There has been clear communication from the start about what needs to happen next. From when the dates for university are to what area of the business we should be working in. The structure fits quite well between store and university needs as the store sends us away for the week for university to save us trying to do both store and University work at the same time.

  • The university degree gives a better understanding of business in general and how it affects the in-store sales and marketing processes. • 9a. Would you recommend Dixons Carphone to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's always different and although hard work is highly rewarding at the end of the day. Everyone that works in store is of a like mind and that means that there is always something to discuss or talk about during the day making it more interesting than just being work-based.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dixons Carphone?
  • You need to be prepared for hard work. It is also helpful to learn to perform a sale in an extraverted manor as this will help to drive sales and relieve some of the pressure that is expected from a member of staff. In regard to the university work, I would recommend getting it completed and submitted as soon as possible rather than leaving it till the last second.
