i currently work within a team where i investigate applications for new and existing customer, i then make the decision if they are to approve the application or decline. i also work on the appeals line for any customers who with to appeal their decision. I also work closely with other teams to spot any fraud trends.
i have learned many new skills, i have been upskilled on many different processes since joining the bank which shows me i can adapt well and undertake any task which is provided to me. i have learned how to work well with a diverse team, now have more knowledge on all ICT and am upskilled on most fraud processes.
i enjoy my current job role, however i do feel my apprenticeship has been up and down regarding my apprenticeship, felt there have been many times where i have struggled and not been given much support, also dont feel i was supported by my apprenticeship in my role as they made it clear to me they are different.
i feel like it could have been structured better to get my work done faster, there have been times ive waited days for an email reply when i needed help or have been left confused about something as this would only be explained to me through email instead of coming to RBS for a few hours in order to sort everything face to face
I received support from my employer when it was needed, however if i my mentor emailed me last minute asking to meet for a face to face sometimes this cause problems in regards to planning. however whenever i needed time to complete any outstanding work this was given to me
i feel i was confused a lot of the time while working towards my qualifications, i felt a lot of the time id ask my mentor a question and she was not aware of the answer which meant i was then left in the dark and felt if i needed support of my work, this sometimes took a while to support however i was helped when it was needed
i feel my qualifications help in the sense i now understand the bank as a whole more and know the processes however it does not help me much within my actual role as i work in fraud, however i do feel i have wide set knowledge on the bank now which does help. i also now have a maths and ICT qualification which could help me if i am every applying for other jobs.
there are opportunities like this, we have a board which lets you know about any sports teams or events, any events which are coming up can also be announced at a huddle so we all have the opportunity to take park, we also have team nights out occasionally to help team build.
No
i love my job however i was originally told i would receive a job at the end of my apprenticeship and now the pay has been moved up a band, i have had to re interview and possibly might not have a role at the end of this when i have worked so hard to get to where i am
i would say to others to always put yourself first, there have been times i have let the stress of the job and things going on within work effect me personally. i would also advise anyone to work as hard as they can to get where they want to be.
