  • A toolmaker is responsible for the daily maintenance of production tools to ensure high quality panels are produced.

  • I have learnt variety of skills involving the following: Training qualications (crane, coshh, first aid etc) Skills (hand fitting techniques, machining and operating machinery, welding) Working as a team

  • I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship, I am able to learn and gain recognised qualifications which allows me to become better in a theoretical and practical enviornment.

  • It is ogranised well, I know what is expected and what targets are needed to be met during my programme

  • If required my employer and supporting college other additonal help to ensure I can meet my objectives

  • In the siutiation of needing additional support I able able to have additonal help from swindon college by atttending after lesson classes as well as discussions

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualifications at the start of the programme are quite generic however this allows me to have a better insight to the beuisness and see how all major depertments worked together and the importance of my deparrmtents involvment during production. this also allows me to be multi-skilled therefore not just stationed at my designated role in which can be exspanded upon

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes we have the oppurtunity to help contribute to BMW success by attending careers evenings for future BMW employees, there is also a in house mountain climbing competition held for all sites to pormote fitness and teamwork.
