  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role as a central diagnostics advisor is to pre diagnose customers problems over the phone to make it easier for the field engineers and make it a better smoother experience for customers and make it more efficient. this involves dealing with a variety of customers problems from washing machines leaking all over the floor to a fridge freezer being warm inside, it is a different experience speaking to so many people on a daily bases and each customer has a different story from the last, I also have to deal with angry customers when something goes wrong with there appliance or the business can not do exactly what the customer wants and within the time-scale the customer wants it doing in.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy my program most of the time as it involves a variety of different things that you dont come across everyday, for example coming across peoples different problems and different needs, I also enjoy the engineering side of the job as I do want to be an engineer so going out with field engineers is a fun experience that I thoroughly enjoy. there are some side to my role that I do not enjoy for example people taking there anger out on you for something that you haven't done and you have to sit there and remain calm. these problems can stem from the businesses computer systems not working and things that are out of my hands and I can do nothing about.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My program is structured quite well for the most part as I have the training and resources around me to better myself at my job, however I believe that my program could be structured better for example having more time and frequent visits to the source as the visits are so far apart we cant stay on track with the coursework and do our job at the same time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do receive a lot of support from my employer as I have had a lot of personal issues and my employer was understanding and gave me the time off when I needed it and was understanding about having to do an order from December until April, during day to day work the employer offers help where it is needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification that we are working towards with our training provider helps us perform better in our role by showing us the correct procedures and rules and regulations for our job role, it also helps us understand the difficulty some customers do have to ensure that we can deliver better service in our job role, all in all the coursework we are doing for our qualification is helping us improve at our job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are some extra curricular activities at our work however they are not easily accessible for normal colleagues such as myself, these are not something that I would take part in anyway as I am always busy, work are trying to provide more activities that are arranged outside of work for work colleagues, again something that I wouldn't take part in.
