My role involves working on the counter. My customer base is both personal and business customers, assisting them with credits/withdrawals or other transactions. My role also involves engaging with customers to ensure they are making the best use of all out services such as digital and online banking, and identifiying potential customer needs such as credit cards
I have always been a very organised person but I have learned how to better manage my time. I have a very busy home life so fitting in an apprenticeship was always going to be a challenge but feel I have excelled more that I ever thought I could have
Being a new joiner to retail banking everything was fairly new for me when I signed up to do this apprenticeship, this j feel has allowed me to pick up new knowledge and retain better as I have no ' bad habits' I need to forget or things I need to re learn.
I feel it is a very structured and well organised programme. I have target dates for each month and set assignments to complete. The only thing I felt was a struggle was fitting in my off the job learning I was required to have away from my role to work on my study. Although I had the full support of my managers, time sometimes was an issue
I recieved more than enough support from my employer. My managers were involved in the ensuring I was coping well and had everything I needed. I was given study days away from the business. I felt they really wanted me to do well and offered lots of encouragement as did my talent coach
My training provider was very supportive. We had monthly visits either in person or remotely. What ever I felt would benefit me the most. If I needed extra support in between meetings I could text call or email her and I would know she would get back to me with any extra required support
I feel my qualification is helping me perform better in my role as I am a lot more confident in the conversations I am having with my customers. I had very little knowledge at the beginning of the apprenticeship being a fairly new starter and I feel doing this has sped up my learnings. I like being able to use my new found knowledge to help customers I wouldn't have had the confidence in doing before.
There are many extra curricular activities I am able to get involved with. I are able to take 2 volunteering days per year. I have already taken one this year. This was to help a local blind society with some sorting/clearing and some decorating. We also have many fundraising opportunities to get involved with in branch also
Yes
Me as a full time working mother I feel HSBC really understands the complexities and requirements of a busy family. They acomodate if and when I need to go for an appointment or have a presentation to attention for my children. My managers always promote how important these events are. I also feel they care about my personal wellbeing and I feel fully supported in my role
I would tell others applying to work at HSBC to go in to it with the want to work hard, learn and develop yourself. There are so many opportunities if you are willing to work for then. If you put the effort in you get so much out of the job as I do.
