My role is varied day to day. I can be involved in facilitation sessions, investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, interviews. This gives me great experience and exposure to the day to day activities of a general HR professional. Currently, I am part of the Resourcing team at Tarmac. This is a great way for me to learn and develop as an individual, while taking on new challenges in a different area of HR.
I have learnt many new skills since being a part of Tarmac. This includes facilitating, how to carry out investigations, how to handle and prioritise my own work load. Also, I have since started a CIPD qualification, which I am finding very useful and relevant within my role. I find that I can put my learning into good practice. I also feel like my confidence has developed massive amounts, due to the exposure and experience I am gaining.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I feel like there are always opportunities for me to develop and grow. I think the company culture is one of the main reasons that I feel at ease and welcome at Tarmac, because everyone within my team and wider Tarmac are respectful and will always be willing to help and support me whenever I need it.
When I first started Tarmac I had a thorough and detailed induction. I feel like I receive lots of support with my programme, there are many people I know I can go to if I am ever in need of any help or support. I feel like I have received the training that I need to be able to carry out my role, and I get the necessary support.
I feel like the support system at Tarmac is amazing. Managers, HR team and wider HR all offer support whenever it is needed. I am always told and reassured if I have any problems I can go to them at any time. I don't think twice when asking for some guidance with a problem because I know it is always looked at in a positive light and is always welcomed.
My training provider provides really good support when working towards my qualifications. My tutor is easy to get in touch with and always makes sure I understand what I am doing and always checks if I am doing okay; always asking if the work load is okay. I really enjoy working towards my qualification.
I feel like what I am learning through my apprenticeship does really help me on a day-to-day basis. I have used many theories and put them into practice and this helps me feel more confident in my role. I am still working towards my qualification, but I feel like my knowledge within my role and the industry has developed massively.
I like to get involved in any Careers Fairs that Tarmac attend, as I feel like as an Apprentice it is great to promote Tarmac and the various roles they offer. I know Tarmac are very passionate about being involved in volunteering days, where they carry out various activities to help the community, whatever this may be. I am looking forward to being involved in this very soon.
Yes
I'd recommend this to a friend because I feel that Tarmac has great company values and it is a great culture to work in. Being my first full time job, I feel I have been given a really positive view and outlook on how you should feel as an employee within an organisation.
Tarmac is a great company to work for. Personally I feel like the application process was an easy to complete and during interviews I was made to feel at ease at all times. There's so much experience and many opportunities that Tarmac offers and this will help you to develop and grow within your role, but as individual too.
