I am a maintenance apprentice this involves carrying out PM (Preventative maintenance) activities on the packing line. Whenever a breakdown occurs I'm involved in repairing the line to get it running with minimum downtime but also looking at preventing it reoccurring.
I've developed a variety of new skills such as machining and welding which are practical skills. I'm currently studying my HNC and making progress to completing my Level 3 NVQ.
I am enjoying the responsibility of working on the lines and helping towards improving performance.
Other than the qualifications, the learning is down to the individuals when in the workplace.
My engineering manager provides me with support whenever I need help getting certain criteria done for my NVQ.

All of the work done in the NVQ is relevant to the workplace as it is evidence I've gathered from the jobs I've done. In the HNC you can relate a lot of it to the workplace in the assignments.
