My role includes working on a rotation basis around the different security teams in Telford, varying from Security Assurance to Forensics and investigations. In my rotations I am set objectives that I work towards whilst I am in each team to gain as much experience as possible. I also complete an educational programme with QA studying Cyber Security Level 4 Technologists.
During my time at Capgemini I have learnt a number of different skills including working very well with a team. I have learnt professional skills when talking with clients and peers in and amougst Capgemini. I have been on training courses externally and internally which has required me to learn about new topics.
I throughly enjoyed my programme so far at Capgemini, I have been welcomed into the company. There is a massive community with all of the apprentices and graduates.
When I started Capgemini I attended an induction training week with lots of other graduates and apprentices. During this week we were taught all about the company and our personal brand. After this week we have had continuous support from our managers and the apprenticeship team. I have 2 different mentors from my security area which help me expand my understanding and knowledge.
I receieve huge support from my manager, i have weekly catch ups to check on my progress and see if I need help with anything. I have contact details for HR if I were to need anything. I have a buddy and a couple of mentors if i were to need to speak to someone other than my manager. Support is everywhere in Capgemini.
From QA I receieve support from my skills coach, we have catch ups every month and I have their contact details if I were to need any help in an emergency or for my coursework. I have training weeks which is based in a classroom and a tutor teaches us, they are willing to answer any questions I need.
It helps me to understand the basic security knowledge behind my role at Capgemini. It gives me knowledge to apply to my daily role by getting me to conduct labs and online learning which I can go back and look at. We have e-books which also helps with the theory side.
I have got involved in company events like Women In Tech nights and career events at a number of different schools. I have voluntered for Apprenticeship shows to help promote the opportunities Capgemini offer like degree apprenticeships etc. I have also been involved in quiz nights/ bowling and meals with members of my security team.
