My role is an account executive, this means I help my team processing account documents to saved as evidence, as well as writing endorsements and occasionally slips. I have also been included on a range of accounts where I support and monitor declarations and I discuss business with colleagues in other Willis offices as well as clients directly.
Definitely! From working at Willis, I understand how to use a range of online applications now which I didn't before including; Eclipse, DMS, Outlook, PPL etc. Additionally I understand how to broke and write insurance documents which I definitely didn't know before, or where to even begin. I have developed my organisational skills because having to stay on top of lots of different accounts at once without disappointing the client is a skill.
I enjoy my programme, I like my team and they are very good with me and listen and answer my questions, sometimes I want more work but sometimes the down periods are good opportunities to do some revision so it isn't always a bad thing. I enjoy the workshops with our tutor Dawn and she goes above and beyond helping us to achieve our full potential, although my only comments with the workshop is the spacing I could do with more regular
the programme is organised but they have changed their mind on the timescale which differs to that what was advertised this is a problem for me because I came onto the programme expecting 24 months and now we are told 36 nearly a year in, which was quite unorganised and misleading. but in terms of workshops they have planned well ahead
From my team I get supported with my studies, as they give me advise and are more than happy for me to attend workshops. In terms with exams I don't feel we get much support in terms that study days before an exam are not provided and it eats into my annual leave which is disappointing. In terms of the daily study the team are quite respectful it is more the apprenticeship team that are not so understandable.
From the growth company we don't get any support from the company but from Dawn our tutor who works for the Growth Company she gives us an immense amount of support and is my favourite aspect of the learning she is extremely helpful and always helps when we need more advice and is happy to go over study again on a call if we need help. Absolutely sensational.
I think it is useful especially the London market papers because it was relevant terminology and helpful to understand better what we are working towards achieiving and it being relevant to our day to day role. The business paper I am currently working towards however isn't very relevant to my role but for an accountant it would be.
There is a football team which as far as I am aware is a mens thing, however this isn't something I would want to join anyways, but there is a gym which I use and enjoy. I also joined the young members committee and attend their social evenings when they occur but this is something external to Willis its more the Insurance market invite. Willis from what I can tell doesn't have any young member social nights in London.
Yes
Willis is a nice place to work with a good atmosphere for the most part the people on my floor are supportive and my team are willing to help and I don't have any issues with the apprentice staff except possibly them not uptaking our suggestions in regards to session planning.
If you are applying to WTW I would recommend that they should be prepared to work hard and there is a lot of work to do and it is enjoyable to learn with each day differing some days will be really heavy days other times will be quiet and you will have more tme to revise but you just have to take each day as it comes. LEARN HOW TO USE EXCEL properly because spread sheets are so important from declarations to claims data.
