My daily role involves the servicing and maintenance of client accounts, including the managing of debt, collection of funds and paying of liabilities. I work closely with UW ledger keepers in Mumbai to ensure that any debt is collected and paid on to the relevant parties as soon as possible. My job also involves the answering of technical queries and enquiries.
I have learnt a lot around the idea of time/ task management through my role. the constant pressure of deadline and client satisfaction means that it is crucial to manage my time efficiently. I have also learnt the ins and outs of insurance, and now feel confident in talking about the insurance world in great detail.
I do in fact enjoy my programme here at Willis, but that is largely because of my job role and my day to day team. I am satisfied with my actual apprenticeship scheme, however I feel the process is far from perfect and causes me a lot of unnecessary stress.
I believe the programme is not structured well, and as a result a lot of confusion is caused. There seems to be multiple parties and spokespeople involved, which leads to a lack of clarity in what actually has to be done. I feel as if there is not a lot of support for me as an apprenticeship.
My employer does overall support me well. My team and manager are excellent in providing me with sufficient time to complete my learning, as well as teaching me the ins and outs of my job role. The training co-ordinator for Willis Re has treated me well and given me lots of advice, however I do not receive the same support from the Willis apprenticeship team
The Growth Company outsource the teaching to different teachers, which I believe works well as it provides me with expert-relevant knowledge. The Growth Company do not seem to give me as much attention as I would like, but that is to be expected by a large company. Overall I am satisfied by the training providers.
My ability to execute my job role is much improved by the qualifications, as they run hand in hand. the CII allows me to understand more and more about the insurance market, which I can then take in to my job. This being said, there is not a massive section of the course dedicated to by exact job role, but this is understandable.
Since being here, I have been involved in many events such as the running of my own charity day, participating in a charity run, a charity football match and numerous social nights and meals. These all help me to feel at home in my job, and have helped me to settle in.
Yes
Overall I would definitely recommend Willis to a friend, the job, people, facilities and benefits are excellent- and they allow you to fit right in. The only down side is the current way that Willis handles apprentices internally, as I do not always necessarily feel supported. As a whole, I will definitely tell my friends about Willis
I would advise anyone applying to do their research on the job role they want to do. Insurance in general can be boring if you are not in an area that excites you, which is why I researched lots before hand and found the perfect area for me. Also, apprenticeships, although they are studying, it is a lot different to school and there Is no room for messing around.
