  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day-to-day role involves handling a number of accounts within my team, working with my London and Mumbai colleagues to make sure that all documentation is correct and sent within the correct timeframe. I am often client facing and regularly provide them with documentation that is required in order to complete the insurance standard of contract certainty.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since joining this job I have learnt a lot about Insurance as a whole and more closely facultative reinsurance and how that differs from other types of insurance. I have also been exposed to the process of placing business, which is a skill that I am continuing to improve. Moreover, through my studies I have learnt a lot about the London Market that I previously did not know about.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my job a lot and like the day-to-day work, however I am not too keen on the programme as a whole and would much rather just be doing the studies and my job without any other constraints (under the control of others). I believe that the programme isn't really specific to each individual and therefore I don't think it is personally very well suited to me and the way I learn.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very structured however I don't believe this is also necessarily a good thing because I would rather have more flexibility and freedom to complete the programme at my own pace. It is however, very organised and I can tell a lot of work goes on behind the scenes for everything to run smoothly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I believe I support an exceptional amount of support from my employer, who provides me with all the resources I need to complete the programme and are also always willing to provide us with any opportunities that crop up. Furthermore, there is always someone to talk to if you have any questions or issues that you need clarifying.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They provide us with some support. Soon we will start having reviews with them which will probably increase their involvement but previously their only involvement was booking exams and providing us with a tutor. The tutors are helpful if you like be taught by someone else but personally I didn't find it to useful. Overall, their involvement has been very minimal to this point.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification certainly does help me perform better in my role, especially the studies, as I am gaining further knowledge and understanding which can allow me to do more within my role. In terms of the competencies, these have very little effect on my role and performance as a whole.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is frequent social events that I like to attend which are really good for networking and developing relationships within and outside of my team. There is sometimes professional networking events that we are encouraged to attend and these often help develop my knowledge in many different sectors, even those which are not relevant to my role.

  • 9a. Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I believe the work environment is really encouraging and friendly, and is one that could make anyone comfortable. I also believe that there is a lot of support within teams that you never feel overly stressed. There is also so many different opportunities within Willis so if the first job you have isn't the one, I'm certain there will be another one within Willis.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • Very cliché but just be yourself. Employers aren't always looking for the smartest person but someone who has the right personality, will fit into the team and also wants to achieve and be successful within their job. Employers will see right through you if you try and force a fake persona.
