  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves monitoring the company's debt figures and managing offshore credit controllers to who we act as a point of escalation if they are unable to make progress. This involves discussing problems with external underwriters who we do business with and colleagues in other sectors of the company.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • One of the main skills required in my role is communication, we have to know how to talk to colleagues to find out the necessary information and to underwriters to be able to build relationships and help address problems. People management is also important when acting as an escalation point.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme a lot as we are given the chance to be independent and work at our own pace which is more enjoyable and productive in terms of balancing the job with the exam content. It is a very relaxed environment so there is little stress or worry.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Programme is fairly well structured with key mile stones and targets marked out as well as additional support offered to those who are behind. However it does seem to be a little inconsistent with timescales for exams and some key areas could have been emphasised more when the course began

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my manager and team in terms of helping me with my work responsibilities as well as always allowing me time to revise and prepare for my exams when needed. We receive regular tutoring for our exams to ensure we understand the key concepts.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have regular workshops run to teach us the content for the exams however the spacing for between these workshops vary and are not always convenient. We also have quarterly meetings to discuss how we are finding the sessions and the suggestions here are listened to and taken on board

    7/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualifications help gives me the context and foundations of my role but many of my colleagues do not hold these qualifications and it does not seem to be relevant to our day to day roles. The qualifications are more suited to brokers where as I am an accounts person.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many opportunities to get involved in extra-curricular activities such as football on Wednesday nights, choir singing at Christmas, regular charity events like fun-runs and activities which are always encouraged as well as monthly bake sales happen during the working day for which that colleagues bake cakes at home.

  • 9a. Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Colourful and exciting place to work full of approachable people who encourage one another, creating a comfortable and relaxed working environment. The work is also interesting and allowing for a real sense of achievement once tasks have been completed. There are opportunities to move around if you fancy a change.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • To be confident and ask plenty of questions as often people forget they are talking in jargon someone new to the industry so it is best to ask them to slow down and explain. It is also worth being patient and trust that you will understand the role in time.
