On a day to day basis the majority of the work that I get involved in is transfer values for members of various different pension schemes. I also offer junior support to the senior members of my team, doing any work that can be passed down to a lower level.
Since starting my apprenticeship I have learnt how to use a lot of new financial and statistical mathematics. It has also helped me to develop my excel skills, as for the most of the work I do I use large spreadsheets. it has also improved my organizational and communication skills and taught how to conduct myself in a professional environment.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship programme, it has given me the opportunity to earn money whilst learning on the job in a practical way as well as allowing me to meet lots of people at different stages of there career who I can learn from as well as helping me to make new friends.
The apprenticeship programme I am on is very structured - with clear targets I have to hit each month, highlighting what study has to be completed as well as the outcomes that need to be met. The training provider is very organised in offering support for anything that needs to completed within the programme.
The employer gives a lot of support in making sure that we pass the apprenticeship by allowing time at work to complete any of my logbook I need to do for that month, as well as offering 18 study days before an exam. Colleagues are also very helpful if you need any help with any exam content or logbook outcomes.
in order to ensure that I pass the exams I need to sit there is lots of support given to help me. They offer videos on each topic of the subject as well as practice exams, mini tests (that I complete monthly as part of my targets) and tutorial days.
I think that the qualifications I sit as part of my apprenticeship programme help to gain further understanding in the work I do on a day to day basis by widening my knowledge on the area and with outcomes from my logbook prompting me to think deeper about the work I do.
