My role is a receptionist. On a day to day basis I book rooms and car parking spaces. I deal with Internal/external customers every day. I distribute post into pigeon holes for the whole of my building. I am in charge of the receptions emails and phone. I answer queries for people from all over the world via phone and email.
I have learnt so many new skills that I never thought I would be able to do. At school you learn the basics of Excel, word and outlook but when I entered this apprenticeship I found out so many more amazing things that you can do on these formats. I learn new things on a day to day basis. Its Great!
I love my programme! The organisation has been so helpful and wonderful and made me feel so comfortable. You automatically feel worried and anxious when you first start but once you learn and get going you will never want to turn back. I started 4 months ago and I have loved every moment of it.
It took a while for the College to get my documents together and for them to finally come and meet me but after that they have been great ever since. My colleagues are great and they give you as much help as they can. Finding a job that you love and starting off with an apprenticeship is the best way forward.
I have unconditional support from not only my employer but my colleagues and the company. My employer always checks up on me to make sure I am doing ok and if I need any help. We have regular meetings to talk about what I have achieved and what I may have struggled with.
My Training provider is also great. They are so kind and thoughtful. They always check to make sure I understand the work and if I don't then they put me on the right track. The work is never to much for me and if I do have any questions while they are not around then I can email her and she will respond very quickly which I find is very useful.
My Training provider will always correct me, some people may find this hard but I find that it work better for me. Having someone else correcting mistakes along the way is a massive help when it comes to your qualification. They explain in great detail what the end qualification should look like.
There is always events and courses available for you to take. I would recommend taking as many courses as she can (If they are available) because they are very handy for your CV (If you think about moving to a different job at the end of your course) and any coursework that may need off the Job Training.
Yes
I highly recommend the University of Oxford. They are so great and give you so much support as an organisation. There is also many great benefits that comes with the Job/Apprenticeship. They are such a great company to work for and you can move into so many different opportunities while working here.
If any apprenticeship comes up that you like the look/sound of then apply for it straight away. Always look on the website and/or the college website, they always have new opportunities on there. Don't be afraid to apply for the role. I always push myself out of my comfort zone after I started.
