my job requires me to do various tasks from grouting, concreting, digging, bolting and de-bolting pipe work and many other jobs, as an apprentice I'm still fairly new to the construction business so I tend to learn whilst being hands on doing the job, so from day to day I can do a variety of different jobs.
yes I have done a fair amount of practical work which gives me the hands on experience and helps me learn a lot quicker as I see first hand how it is to be done and done correctly, however the work I am doing on site is very repetitive and after a while can get a bit frustrating when hearing what some of the other apprentices are doing, also when I do my theory days I have a more In depth lesson on whatever it is I'm doing on site.
I enjoy the work on site and on my theory days, the people I work with try to help me as much as they can my theory tutor is a big help to me and the other students in the class and he will always make sure we fully understand the work we do before we upload it to be marked.
the apprenticeship on a hole is very good lots of help and support especially when doing our modules and our tests, but like I said previously the work on site does get repetitive after a while.
we are made known from the start that at any point we can contact either are gang leader or Bentley's HR and approach then for help or guidance, also on a theory day steve is a big help and gives us a lot of guidance.
a lot! is a big big help to me and other students goes above and beyond when helping us ensuring that the work we are doing it to the highest standard some of us take longer to get our heads around it as some of the work is harder but it always gets done.
the theory gives me a better idea of what I'm doing on site a more in depth view of the work, which gives me a greater chance of getting the work done correctly and more efficiently.
there is but a lot of the gangs don't get a chance to go as they tend to be about 5:30pm and we don't leave site till around that time and also the drive back to telford from where ever we are would mean we don't get back till around 6:30 - 6:45 and that's just an hour sometimes we are over an hour and a half away.
Yes
because its a friendly environment and its a professional business with good standards.
be confident
