  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Role changes on a six month basis and has varied between responding to commercial client requests and completion of credit applications, to reviewing credit rating models, digital customer journeys, and supporting the Executive of a business area. There is great variation and I have taken a lot away from each placement

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have had the opportunity to develop stakeholder management skills, strategic thinking and business management. As well as this I had the chance to improve my excel skills which are now relatively advanced and look at some simple coding on SQL which is very useful for data analysis and can be applied in a lot of different roles.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Really enjoy my programme and have been given lots of opportunities to experience different areas of the commercial bank. I think the people that I work with on the whole are one of the best parts of working at LBG, as everyone is very inclusive and encouraging of development across all levels

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has been well thought out with well timed placements that give you enough time to add value to a team, develop your skills and then transfer them to another area. There are also good 'check-in' opportunities and extra curricular/networking sessions are also very accessible which is great

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We are given clear points of contact should we have any issues or questions which is really useful. We also have regular cohort meet ups with networking sessions/business challenges, and are supported in building our skills for employment in the group following completion of the 2 years with the group

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • we are supposed to receive a set amount of time, which is great- on the whole most line managers are supportive, however it can be tricky to balance performing at your best possible in your role whilst also completing a qualification. I wouldn't say this is the fault of the employer though

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification is suitable to the role that I would end up in and I would say is really interesting too. We were given an option of three different qualifications meaning that we could choose the one that we thought would be most relevant to where we are working and longer term career goals

    8/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are regular social activities planned particularly in your first year, which is great for getting to know the cohort and discuss experiences. There are also fairly regular events where senior leaders will come and speak or we have the chance to ask any questions. Colleagues are also very willing to give you their time to find out about their area/role

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Very supportive colleagues, lots of different career opportunities depending on your interests, and you are well supported with developing your own skills. Lloyds Banking Group are also very supportive of agile working, which can come in very useful and means that maintaining a work-life balance shouldn't be too difficult if you need it!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • You would be suitable for the role if you care about improving processes to make them more efficient and simple for others, and have an interest in helping people- both internal- in terms of working with colleagues to reach goals, but also support customers in their banking needs. You should look closely at which specific stream is most relevant for your long term career goals
