During the course of the week I was to gain an understanding of a few different job roles within the Law firm. At the beginning of the week I spent a day and half in property where I was shown what a property lawyer would be expected to do on a daily basis, I was also given numerous research tasks and finally had to draft my own Lease. Later on in the week I shadowed a trainee in the Employment segment of the firm where I was told about their 'typical day'. Finally, the back end of the week I was placed with the banking team. During this time I was thought how to draft a Bible index.
I have never had to conduct research before this week, so I have learnt how to appropriatly find the right information and put it in the correct format and send it to the relevent people.
I enjoyed working with the other interns at the beginning of the week as well as being separated individually into segments of the law firm. I appreciated the businesses values, ethics and theories as they are very important to me. The experience didn't meet my specific expectations because I wasn't sure what I was walking into. I have enjoyed the work experience and it has motivated me to work hard and gain a training contract.
Being one of a few interns for a short work placemnt made me think that I would not be valued by the business, however, as we were giver a large amount of responsability and independece made me feel very valued within the group.
Very organised and planned out prior our arival.
There was always support for us when we needed it as we was paired up with a trainee within each department we were in. Shadowing a trainee maid it less daunting for us to ask if we were stuck as they were in the same position as us but just on a larger scale. However, after talking to the other interns we all agreed that the work which was given to us expected us to have a profound knowledge of law and have high level office skills which non of us had for being in early education.

Was not given a salary nor a package to cover our costs.

Yes
I believe that this scheme has allowed me to have a real knowledge of the legal profession as it has allowed me to appreciate what goes on behind the courts. Whether a individual had been inspired to want a legal profession or been put off the idea I believe its important and very useful to gain this experience as it helps you make a decision on what you want or do not want from a career.
Don't be scared to ask questions otherwise you're missing out on learning useful skills and information
