My Role is a electrical commissioning engineer in the water treatment industry on a day to day basis I shadow my mentor to gain knowledge how to work safely whilst working with live electrical components, being able to understand fault finding procedures, be able to read, understand and follow engineering drawing and be to work as a team in the safest was possible
I have learnt a lot about health and safety in industry gained good electrical knowledge gained mechanical knowledge, general skills such as communication skills, digital literacy skills, how to operate machinery how to fault find in electrical work English and numeracy skills and have been able to develop skills I had all ready acquired
I think the programme is superb the programme enables us to gain a lot of hands on experience as well as gain the theory of why we do jobs the way we do and have gained a lot of knowledge of the way industry works and the different verity of jobs in industry
The structure of the programme is highly well organized, everything that we do as apprentices is pre planned and know what we are doing far in advance with yearly calendars and a lot conversations over email to make sure your happy with the programme this helps me plan well in advance
the company are very flexible and supportive they give good benefits to help us such as fuel allowance a car allowance and also pre book our hotels and give living allowance when staying away this takes a lot of pressure off us whilst going back and forward to college and enables us to travel and see the different types of schemes we have
our training provider gives plenty of support by giving us one to one sessions where we can discuss any issues or problems that we are having trouble with and allows us to talk about things we struggle with we constantly fill in tracking sheets sonobody will be falling behind in work
the units we cover in the qualifications we do really helps me get a good understanding of thing we do as a company in the work place by giving me the theory of all the jobs I do this helps me when it comes to doing any practical tasks on site
the company hold regular sport day events and social activates that we organize between ourselves where we can go go-karting paint balling and allow do give regular updates on a vast amount of events we can attend to this helps gain a good working relationship with other members of staff you don't really speak with

JN Bentley have helped me gain a lot of confidence and a lot skills that will definitely help me excel futher on in my career they try and teach you in the best way they can by always asking for your opinion and giving you the flexibility to move round meet new people and explore different process in industry
I would say be yourself and be willing to learn as JN Bentley will give you a lot of responsibilities if you want them and will help you progress to be the best you can be another thing I would advise is that you look into the industry that we work in to see what we do and the opportunities you can gain
