  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am required to support the central campaign managers for the small and medium business segment in delivery of marketing campaigns. Mainly the medium segment, on a daily basis I am required to raise creative asset requests for things like: videos, social posts and content pieces then see the delivery of these through to completion - then I am required to hand these over to the regional marketing production managers to localise these campaigngs in up to 8 regions.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since being in this role I have learned many new skills including using key business programs such as, salesforce, Qlik and Workfront. I have also learned a lot about marketing and different types of marketing including terms used and roles there are. I have developed existing skills such as time management and project management massively as my role is very busy and fast paced.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love my role however I found that the business administration course I was on wasn't always relevant to my job and I would have preferred doing a marketing specific qualification however this wasn't available at the time. I am now moving onto a Level 4 marketing so I am pleased with this and look forward to the new skills I will learn.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme is well organised and I get set time each week to do my course work as well as regular 1-2-1's with my manager and my tutor to track progress. I am treat like a full member on the team and am given tasks that are challenging and allow me to learn. My only issue as I mentioned earlier was the content of the qualification I was enrolled on.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer support is amazing, I have weekly 1-2-1s with my manager and my full team is always available to support on any work I am doing whether this be apprenticeship coursework or in my day to day job. I am always offered opportunities beyond my daily role to experience and learn about other teams.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My TA Amanda has been the best in ensuring the work I was providing was of a good quality and overall would allow me to pass the qualification. She was always available when I needed her help and would sit with me to ensure I understood all tasks before I was left to my own devices to complete them.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As I mentioned earlier I didn't find the BAL3 units massively relevant to the role I do. Certain units such as 'project management' and 'analyse and present business data' were relevant to my role however I wouldn't say they taught me a lot that I hadn't already learned through my day to day tasks.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Sage offer 5 days volunteering per week through the Sage Foundation where teams or individuals can go to a charity or organisation in need and offer their time to volunteer at these sites. This is great for team building and getting out the office but also to feel and know you are doing good in your local area.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Sage to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • As reflected in my previous answers I love working at Sage and facing/overcoming the challenges I experience in my overall role. I have a good support network around me which really has allowed me to learn quickly and grow within the marketing world and I don't think I could have gotten this experience anywhere else.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sage?
  • Firstly I'd say don't be scared, this is an easy trap to fall into as its a big corporate firm however it isn't as strict/corporate as you think it will be. It is full of lovely people who want to help you learn. Next I would tell them to just go for it as there is plenty of room for progression and extra-curricular events to get involved in.
