My day to day tasks are as folows; - Conducting daily briefs before the start of the shift; reviewing KPI's from previous days production and discussing health and safety issues with the employees - Daily Environmental Log Sheets - Active Site supervision (Employees / Contract work force) - Maintaining the sites H&S Document
Working at Tarmac has allowed me to develop managerial skills, as well being able to motivate and manage successful teams. I have been exposed to various different sections of the business allowing me to develop versatile skills which can be adopted in various different workplaces.
The programme has an excellent balance of work / education based learning. The degree at Derby works in well with the practical exposure onsite. The practical experience onsite is exceptional and the interaction from experienced employees make it easy to develop within this environment.
Well laid out programme from start to finish, which meets the learning requirements of the job role which you are aiming to go into when finished. The self study and onsite learning allow fast progress to be achieved if maximum effort is applied.
The employer (Tarmac) are willing to fund and support courses / training which you want to go on. They carry out quarterly review meetings and ask what you require in order to personally develop. As a young career driven individual the help and support could not be any better.
Derby university study is a distant learning course. The tutors are always available if you require any help or assistance.
The qualification allows you to understand the theoretical principles behind the practical solutions. The course gives you an insight to the industry as a whole, but in my personal opinion I have learned more onsite doing the job. The course itself is fairly challenging but support and help is available.
As a company Tarmac are exceptional at promoting and getting employees involved in social and educational events which promote and encourage networking. Examples; Core Skills Development Programme / Future Leaders / Safety Days / Football tournaments / Institutional Events (IAT / IOQ / MPA) These events are driven and heavily supported by our CEO.
Yes
