  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is customer service adviser. this involves me being a main point of contact if customers have anuy issues regarding their accounts. This means i could be just simply making a payment or i could be dealing with fraud happening on somebodys account. In addition to this i also deal with complaints and attempt to resolve them if that is possible.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt new skills. i have first of all learnt how to communicate effectively over the phone with customers, this involves me using my voice a lot more to portray joy and welcoming-ness. I have also learnt how to better myself and how to spot areas i can work on myself, which can be carried into any role with any comapny.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I fairly enjoy my programme. The role i do is good and generally the people i work with are brilliant, which creates a brilliant "vibe" around the workplace. However, the role itself can vary from day to day, so one day i may have lovely customers all day who are super friendly or even easy to deal with, whereas others are really hard to deal with.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel truthfully that my apprenticeship with knowledgepool is definitely not well organised, nor is it well structured. ] first of all we did not receive any communication for the first 2 months or so of the apprenticeship and then when we did, it was just them saying that they werent coming to see us.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i receive more than sufficient support from my employer. My employer do whatever they can to boost my chances of doing the best i can within this apprenticeship, whether this be through providing guidance or just generally giving me time to comkplete my apprenticeship work whilst at work. they are just great.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • at first the support from my training provider wasnt great. they were very distant and we received very little communication from them. however, after we provided feedback to them, things changed and now they are great. we have regular visits with our talent coach and have regular updates on what we should be doing.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • truthfully, i dont really beleive it benefits me that much. obviously there are some areas within the CertRBCB qualification that will boost my general banking knowledge which could boost customer satisfaction as they wont have to be passed arounf to several departments. however, other than that i dont beleive it really affects my role that much.

  • 9a. Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • i would reccommend HSBC to a friend because: - it is a great working environment; - they are mega supportive; - the staff are also super friendly; - there are also great benefits to working here such as a good pension and perks at work. - finally the hours arent too bad either, as you will only work 20% unsociable hours.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
  • the first tip would be to be comfortable, be confident and be yourself, when applying they dont really care that much about your background and what you have or havent got. they just want to see if you are generally a likeable character who is very able to hold a conversation.
