I am an operations apprentice at the company I work for. I go to different sections of the work place and then do a placement on each area for 3 months at a time. During this time, I am given jobs that I am able to complete and then write up.
Whilst I have worked at my company I have learnt new skills such as how to solder correctly and how to strip wires. I have also learnt how to complete a full build on what I work on. I have also learned how to use the new work system MES.
I am still completing my programme, I enjoyed the start of it but as I'm working through it there are some placements I haven't enjoyed. There is also barely any work half of the time so it can become quite boring when you're sat with no work.
The programme is quite organised, but at the start it was all over the place and my year ended up staying in training for 3 extra months than what we should have. Sometimes our placement times change but they work on sorting that all the time, but sometimes forget to tell us.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. they are always very helpful and give me any extra help I may need. They also try to give me as much work as possible to keep me busy and are very approachable. they also keep us updated with our training.
Our training provider is very helpful. Our LDO that we are assigned always helps with our NVQ qualification and want us to achieve the best that we can. he is also always available for us to message him when we need help with any questions and gives us lots of examples to follow.
I think the qualification helps us by giving us better knowledge of what we are working with in our apprenticeship. We also learn about hazards, high voltages, how to practise first aid and save someone. It also helps us to understand what we are doing within our jobs and how to carry them out.
There are many activities to get involved with such as career fairs, school presentations, mental health support, work shops with other companies, promotions of the company. there is also a charity team who organise events for charity that everyone can take part in. there is also football teams that you can get involved with.
Yes
I would recommend MBDA to a friend because its a great working environment, and you get to learn whilst you earn. Everyone who works here is really welcoming and are willing to help you with anything that you need. You get lots a qualifications whilst you work here all paid for which you can use in other companies.
If you are applying to MBDA, I would say that you should just be yourself during the interview, and try your best at the online tests. If you're looking for a working environment which is friendly and you like lots of work, you should apply at our company as an apprentice.
