  • my job title that i am training to be is an electrical and instrumention techniation. my day to day job is to carry out maintenace on the plant on site. my respnsibilites at the moment isnt alot as i am only an apprentice but will be a massive responibilites for gas quailty.

  • i am loving my apprenticeship i am learning loads, the team on site are really friendly and the company really does look after me well.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme is very well planned, we got given our 3 year plan on the first day so you can plan to book hoilday around training. we also have a review evrey 10 weeks to see how we are getting on which is really good.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • the tutors always go a the speed of the group , we fill out a sheet at the end of every course to see how it went, we also have been offered extra help out of hours. and our mentors are always there to help

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • it is very very good for my age i have friend who are doing apprenticeships and i am earning 3x as much, i have plenty of money to spend on my self and save for a house.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • there are alot of company acticites we can get involved with for example very one on site get invited to go paint balling. we also go for a big christmas work due with every one.

  • 9. Would you recommend National Grid to a friend?
  • Yes

  • is a very good company to work for offers you alot of stuff, good money and all training paid for.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Grid?
  • fill up every box on the application forms, on the interview evening make sure you get down in the bar later to get speaking to all of the mangers. try and get some work experience with national grid so they already know you and that will help you loads.
