My day to day works consists of, coming into my place of work, listening to the daily brief and learning what work I will be doing on that day. I also learn who I will be working with. I will then head to work and do as I am told.
I have learnt a wide array of new skills while at the same time I have also developed a fair amount of my already existing skills. My hand skills and my usage of tools has increased exponentially as has my ability to work in different teams and doing different jobs.
I do really enjoy my programme. I find the work fun, enjoyable and interesting, the teams I am placed in are always very competent and are willing to teach me and help me grow as an engineer. The company culture does support me and allows me to be comfortable at work.
The structure of my apprenticeship is very organised. From the induction, training, support, studying and the support meetings/mentor system, to the task delegation and team hierarchy are all very organised. This is something that makes work more enjoyable as I do not have to worry about any organisational problems.
I receive all of the relevant support that I need from my apprenticeship and my employer. I personally have not had any problems but I know that if I did require any support from my manager, HR team, mentor or anyone else, that they would all be more than happy to help.
I know that whenever I need support with my training, I ca n ask a whole multitude of people. I could ask my manager, I could ask the engineers I work with, I could ask my training provider, I could even ask any of my fellow apprentices if I need help.
My training towards my qualifications (through my training provider) has helped me perform better in my role. My qualifications (through my training provider) help me perform better in my job due to the fact that my training has increased my knowledge of the job that I perform and allows me to be more capable in my role.
There are many different extra curricular activities available at my place of work. The different extra curricular activities available at my place of work range from meeting up with the apprentices from other areas of British Airways for a chance to network, to various different fundraising events for different charities.
Yes
I would always recommend my company (British Airways) largely due to the fact that it is a good company to work for. British Airways is a good company to work for because they offer you very good training, a fair wage, all of the support you need and different opportunities.
My main tip for others applying to British Airways is to be confident in your application. There will likely be a lot of other people applying to the same position that you are also applying for, so if you do not have confidence you will be less memorable. Also don’t get discouraged if you do not get the job.
