  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to build projects and implement change into the operation. I work with team managers and compliance teams to build solutions that are in line with our smart regulations and are suitable for the business. I create communications for the whole business so they are aware of the changes, create and deliver training to the advisors for the new processes and analyse the outcomes to ensure what has been trialled has been successful.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt about a number of attributes such as management styles and self reflection however I found it difficult to embed this knowledge and prove I am learning in accordance to the team leading apprenticeship as I am not a team leader. Also within the company I have learnt a lot about self awareness already as the company is already big on development and already provides access to a number of tools relating to this.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I don't overly enjoy the programme. I feel it was run poorly and a number of people had completed extra unnecessary work as they were told different things to others. We weren't informed how much work the apprenticeship would involve. I also found the workshop days to lack in depth information.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As above I feel the organisation was very poor for this apprenticeship. I followed the plan in my account online only to be told at the end of the month that they had uploaded the incorrect one and I needed to complete different work. When I queried what I needed to do the next month my tutor was unsure. I think the apprenticeship needs a lot more planning and ensure there aren't errors on the system as you also sometimes get duplicates on the fuse system which you are supposed to follow.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My immediate manager was very supportive however I work on a team where we have external targets to meet otherwise the company can receive fines so I found it very difficult to fit in 1 day a week to complete my apprenticeship and this was not made clear when we signed up that we would need this much time to do the work. Also as I am not a team leader I needed to take on extra responsibilities to be able to meet the requirements and I was not able to fit all of this in.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have pulled out of this qualification after 2 months as I was not able to complete it. I did get some support from the provider but I don't think it was in enough detail or it was clear for everyone to understand as I know a number of people on the qualification were often asking questions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I don't feel like the qualification has helped me in my role. I expressed when I signed up that I was not a team leader and the company advised me that was fine. As I am not a team leader I found it difficult to show my learning's in my role. The few months I was on the apprenticeship did teach me something's but nothing that could really help me perform better in my current role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes, there are a lot of extra things you can do in E.on. We have a talent pool which you can apply to be in which offers you extra things to help with your development. These could be from networking events with your peers to understand more about the wider business and areas and also to working on extra projects to help your development and provide interview examples.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • E.on is a company which offers great advantages to working at the company. They provide a decent pension and pay. I feel they do care about the company and the customer in what they do even if they don't always get it right. The people who work for E.on are very friendly and will always help you when you need them and they are also big on personal wellbeing.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • if you are going for an interview you need to prep and understand the business you are applying for. Also be confident you can deal with change and it is an ever changing company operating in an ever changing industry with growing competition with lots of new suppliers joining the energy market.
