As an apprentice technical consultant I am required to go out to clients, and provide a solution to a technical problem that they are experiencing this could range from data migration to server maintenance. At this point in my career I am currently undertaking basic administration work such as the creation and correction of various documents used in the managed services area of the business.
I have further developed my presentation skills and have an increased amount of confidence when in a professional environment. I now can conduct myself appropriately in business environment. I also possess the ability to understand what type of language is expected to use in various business documents and other forms of written communication.
I enjoy that I have the ability to put into practice what I am learning. I also like the fact that I am treated like an adult and given meaningful and useful projects rather than just busy work. I enjoy being able to do certain projects that will allow me to plan out what I want to do with my future.
When talking about my work life, there is lots of structure, guidance and direction in regards to where I am headed, how it will affect me and how I will be able to make the most out of the opportunity. My university life on the other hand is somewhat unstructured and doesn't provide much guidance as to the relevance of what I'm learning.
I've received an adequate amount of support from my manager as there is always someone for me to talk to in regards to any concerns/difficulties I have with work and even any problems I face outside of the work environment. My mentor has been absent from the moment I started.
I receive an amount of support that is enough for the work that I am given from my office based work, however the university work has varied over the different modules completed so far. I hope this is not a reflection of what is to be expected in the future modules.
At the moment, only one module I've completed so far has had any sort of relevance to my job role and the materials that I learnt were not applicable to any of the work that I was doing at the time or any work that I've done since.
At work, I do participate in the 5-a-side football team that plays every friday at a football grounds located near my office. I also participate in a self organised football team with friends outside of work and tend to go to the gym with a selected few of them outside of the football.

It is a very friendly and professional environment to work in. It does feel as though the company cares about your future with them and tries to develop you as an employee as well as a person. The kind of opportunities that are available to you are second to none.
Be confident in yourself and don't be afraid to ask questions about the company or the apprenticeship. If/when the face to face interview stage is reached it is recommended that you talk to all applicants there as this will be seen as being a sociable character.
