  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have to develop and test for a range of different projects mainly revolving around Audit. In the morning i come into the office and begin looking at what I did the day before and what I plan on doing in that day. I then prepare for the daily stand up meeting at 10 before getting on with the day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a varying amount of new skills throughout the course of my 2 and a half years at the company that I am working at here in Telford known as Capgemini. Some of the skills I have learned include Business Objects, SQL, UNIX and general Testing skills and techniques.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying the ability to learn as part of my degree I am completing at Aston University as well as the ability to work and gain lots of on the job experience within the office as well as learning from my team members and gaining lots of experience here.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has been organised in such a way that the University and the Office side are intertwined so that you gain experience in both areas equally. Although I feel like sometimes the University and degree side of the programme can be a bit overbearing and too much to handle on top of office work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive as much support as I need from my employer, when I ask for help or time off I am given the help I need to succeed in the degree. That's all, I have to fill 50 words so ignore this sentence its just to fill the limit.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again, I receive as much support as I need and I request. They offer help and assistance with any of the module content whenever it is needed. Once again I have to fill 50 words this is such a pain oh my. Word word word word word word word word.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • To be honest a lot of it seems pretty irrelevant to my job. Perhaps its due to my work happening to be different to the content of the degree, perhaps not. Either way both sides seem very disconnected at the moment, although the third year should help to create a sense of connection between the two.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of extra curricular oppertunities available, I dont generally go for them however but if one pops up that I think looks interesting then I will happily look into it. An example is the tech challenge where you are given a month to come up with the best tech related product within your team as you possibly can.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a good company with good oppertunities and pay for young people looking to join an apprenticeship. Its got great future potential and networking, and with the degree being there as well you dont have to worry about student debt and get paid to learn. I would recommend it yes.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Just be yourself... Okay well be yourself but make sure to be more formal in interviews and do your best to appear presentable and like an employee that the company would want to have. Thats all I got, sorry 50 word limit looks like youre gonna have to deal with it :/
