an overview of my role is that I pull reports. this can be for specific areas or just a general view. I pull reports from an application called tableau, which is an automated software. I also build dashboard that go into tableau for other colleagues to view. I give the reports to senior members of the business.
One big skill I have learnt during the course is using Tableau. before I started the apprenticeship I had never used this application. so I had to learn the basics of Tableau. A skill I have developed is presentation skills. during the apprenticeship I have already done 3 presentations and I feel like they have got better after each one.
I am really enjoying the apprenticeship so far as I am learning skills and techniques everyday. I believe that I will continue to learn new skills throughout the apprenticeship and I am looking forward to developing myself in the workplace. I have also enjoyed meeting new people that I might not have met if I didn't go through the apprenticeship scheme.
I believe that programme, the project management course, is very well structured. it is split into three sections: pre-work, course at QA and then post work. The pre work needs to be done before the course at QA and the post work needs to be done before the next course at QA. We were told in plenty of time when each course is and I have the dates for the year in my calendar.
I am provided with full support from my employer and they know it is vital for me to set time out of my work day to do college work for my qualification. they are always there if I need to ask any questions regarding the material in the qualification if they can help me.
I am provide with full support from the training provider when working towards my qualification. they have made it very clear to me and other apprentices that if we need help we can always email them with any questions and they will happily help us out and if not send us in the right direction to get the answer.
I have only had one session with QA, however I do believe that it has already helped me in my role. I am starting to understand some of terms used in the workplace. I have a mentor that helps me through this and I am understanding the terminology more and more.
There are always social events going on in my office, such as nights out, playing darts at Flight Club. I am currently organizing a social event for the office that I believe will help my project management skills. it is being looked over by my line manager but I will be organizing it.
Yes
I have already recommended Barclays to a number of friends and made sure that they realize how good of place it is to work. they understand it is a good opportunity to get education for free and work for an established company that other companies are striving to get to.
One of the big tips I would give to people applying to Barclays is to understand what Barclays is. Not as a Bank but other areas, such as the Barclays Values. We have 5 Values. Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship. These aren't just a marketing stunt, we aim to hit these values everyday
