As a Business Analyst in my day to day role i work within a team mostly working on one project at time. I mostly work with internal teams documenting requirements for whichever project i am currently working on as well as creating flows or other diagrams that relate to that project. As responsibilities go, within my project we split our projects into different sections and each member of my team is assigned a section. This gives me a lot of responsibility as essentially you become the expert on that specific section even if there may be overlap between these sections.
Yes i have definitely developed a lot of new and improved skills during the time i have currently been in this apprenticeship. I have developed much better presentation skills due to having to present what i am working on to my team as well as the wider teams within our department. I have also developed better requirement documenting skills having worked with experienced members of my team which have shown me correct formatting etc.
I really enjoy my programme. I work within a really good team which makes coming into work feel more like having a chat with friends rather than being in a really formal environment. The company culture is great and every one is very friendly. I work in a non customer facing site so there is a relaxed dress code and environment which i enjoy.
The programme is well organised. There can be a few issues but if mentioned they get fixed very quickly and they try and inform you of any information they get as soon as possible. This is also very to do with the support systems in place. If there are any issues you have several mentors/buddies that you have meetings with very often where you can raise any problems.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. I have extremely regular meetings scheduled with my manager as well as mentors. This gives very easy access if you need any support as you can raise issues in any of these meetings. There is a very positive attitude towards supporting anyone that needs it not only apprentice's.
I get a lot of support from my training provider. I have regular meetings with my skills coach where we go though any actions that need to be completed, what has been completed/where we are up to with specific tasks and just if i need help with anything in general.
Yes definitely. I do a Business Analyst course as a Business Analyst so everything i do in my role relates to what i do in my course and vice versa. I basically do everything included in my course as part of my day to day role and if not its something i do often. I feel that once i have completed my course everything i do will be to a much more consistent standard. It is also very good as everything i am learning is not just common across the company but across the industry.
Yes there is a lot of these sort of activities that you can choose to get involved in. As part of my wider team we often have team social events and activities. There is a lot of clubs and teams across the site that you can join if you are interested.
Yes
The apprenticeship i am currently on actually got recommended to me by a friend and i really enjoy it. So i know that quite a lot of other people may enjoy it also. It wont necessarily suit everybody but if i knew somebody i think would enjoy it i would definitely recommend it.
The application process is a bit slow and tedious at times. So i would say don't get worried if you hear things back within a short period of time. It does not mean that they have forgotten about you its just that it is a big company and a lot of people apply at once. In regards to assessment days and the general application process they are quite straight forward and just try and be yourself. Everyone is super nice and there isn't really a reason to get nervous about it.
