Helping customers reach resolutions when they're dissatisfied with Barclays products or services. This mostly includes logging complaints for customers as that is the area I specialise in. Due to the scope of the job, my role can concern lots of different things relating to banking. Most of the time, I'm giving advice.
I haven't learnt an abundance of information surrounding banking and finance and improved my customer service skills. The practical knowledge from learning my job role really helps me personally with my own finances. As this is my first customer facing roles, my customer service has improved by a great deal.
My apprenticeship program is retail conduct business of banking (RCBC). it concerns may topics of retail banking and I've enjoyed learning about each topics, as said before, the information I have learnt from my apprenticeship as helped me with my personal finances, as the information I have wasn't available whilst I was in school.
To begin with, the apprenticeship program was very well structured and I felt I was progressing well, but as the decision to hire an external company, knowledgepool, to teach the apprenticeship, the organisation has gone. The transition was meant to be for November, but it's now May and I still haven't been properly introduced to my apprenticeship coach
Due to the complexity and how highly regulated my role within Barclays is, I need constant support and help, especially when I receive challenging or complex calls. Barclays has online resources to help with queries, but also there is always managers, team leaders or floor walking staff to help us
At the moment, am receiving very little support. This is due to the aforementioned transition between Barclays and Knowledgepool. I have pass my exam and so far, have finished all the apprenticeship work I know of. I am coming towards the end of my contract and am worried that I won't finish in time.
My qualification is very much linked to my job role and lots of the information that we have to study about is relevant to the queries we get in the job role. EG, timescales around payments or regulatory bodies. Being able to take a step back from talking to customers also prevents myself from being fatigued and it's a nice change of pace to go away from the phones to study.
We are allowed to create charity days that help us raise money for a registered charity, it is nice to be able to raise money for a cause we choose. Additionally, life skills events allow us to teach important money management skills to kids. Although I wish there was a work's sports team to join.
Yes
Despite the problems with the apprenticeship, I would still recommend Barclays as an employer. The job itself is difficult to do, especially with the added pressure to study for an apprenticeship qualification. But the Holiday hours are good, the shifts are flexible, there is lots of support for colleagues and the general culture of the place is nice.
Book your holiday hours as quickly as possible as they fill up really quick. It is definitely important to stay positive when you first start as your experience and knowledge would not be there to start with. For the apprenticeship, make sure to stay on top of the work as there's a lot to get through,
