My role on a day to day basis is answering calls to customers to deal with their banking queries. I deal with all sorts of different queries such as updating customers personal details to transferring large amounts of money for the customers, and giving advice about products and services we hold.
I have learnt a lot of new skills in my job such as learning how to be a personal banker. I learnt how to use the systems to do the banking for customers and I have learnt about products and services that we hold. I have excelled in my IT skills with working on the computer daily.
I enjoy the programme in learning new things about banking and learning about different areas in the bank and what the do. I enjoy talking to customers and helping them find new things out that would help them with their everyday banking and giving them information on products and the benefits of it.
To begin with the apprenticeship was amazingly organised as we had ASD' to help us on our journey and classroom sessions to talk us through things we struggled with, but the apprenticeship turned to a new provider 5 months after us starting. From then on the contact agreements changed with the time we would receive for on the job learning and we did not meet out new provider for several months and also struggled to get the study time when it had not been applied.
I would say I receive the necessary support from my employer. I receive 3.30 minutes off the phone a week which is 10%. I get modules on my computer which supports me with knowledge of banking so if I need to find more information about something I have several facilities to check and plenty of people who support us on calls.
I have gone several months with not much support from the training provider which is knolledgepool. Due to the change over from Barclays to knolledgepool there were several problems such as getting a talent coach provided. I had someone marking my work but did not meet anyone for several months.
I have training on a website which is tesselo which I do modules on a weekly basis. I also have the LIBF website which is what I get the most support off. I am suppose to have monthly meeting to see how the apprenticeship is going but I have had my first one since September at the end of may.
There are extra-curricular activities to get involved in such as charity events. Most of the events that we do are nights out to raise money or things such as painting youth clubs, or helping out the local dogs trust. We have a night out aswel called Barclays 360 which is great for the staff.
Yes
I definitely would recommend Barclays to a friend or a family member because Barclays really look after there staff in terms of support when it comes to having problems with health or mental health they take it very seriously and do what they can to support you and your career.
I would give the tip to always write down new things you learn as it makes it stick in your head. I would also advise that calls are the most important thing for learning. Also make mistakes, you learn from them and I would say enjoy the ups and downs!
