Throughout my apprenticeship I have to go on a different team every 6 months, this allows me to expand my skills and knowledge of the business. I have been on the cheque team, stock, automated payments and agents debts. Everyday I have to help customers with their different queries and resolve them as soon as possible.
Since working at the Post Office, I have gained lots of confidence and independence with my work. I have developed using my own initiative as I take responsibility for my own work and don't wait to be told what to do. My communication skills have improved massively as I am able to speak on the phone and face to face with customers and colleagues.
I enjoy my programme a lot and it has given me so much experience and helped me grow as a person. Everybody Is really friendly and I am never afraid to ask for help if needed. The job itself is really interesting and you get amazing opportunities even when you're an apprentice.
My programme is really well organised. My college tutor will come and visit me once a month to go through the work that I have done and to observe me in my role to see what I have learn and what I am able to do confidently. I also get time to do my college work within my work time so I don't have to do it all at home.
My apprentice manager (my employer) is very supportive and helps me with anything I ask. She urges me to go above and beyond and do things out of my comfort zone. With her support, I have visit London, Belper and Leicester to work in branches and attend meetings. This helped me stand out as I have been to other places.
Every time I need help ill always email or ring my training provider to ask any questions and they always get back to me within a couple of ours explaining the things that I would not understand. My college tutor has helped me complete my nvq by always explaining what I need to do better and how to do that.
I feel that my qualification helps me to perform better in my role as it gives me a better understanding of the customers needs. As I am completing a Customer Service Level 2, it has learnt me how to speak to customers professionally and how to deal with difficult calls.
We get involved in extra curricular activities such as Rounders, Race for Life, Sparkle Walk and Evening walks around he country side. We also do raffle tickets to raise money for things such as childrens hospitals and animals. We also have trips to the head office in London to get involved in workshops.
